Harrisburg, PA – Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that Harrisburg Police have arrested multiple individuals in connection with several unrelated crimes.

Reed said Harrisburg Police arrested Samuel L. Brown, 19, of no fixed address, on Saturday, April 19, 2008, in connection with a burglary that occurred in the 1900 block of Forster Street.

At around 1:25 p.m. on April 19, several individuals arrived at the location of the incident to complete home renovations. Upon entry, the individuals noticed the cellar doors were opened. As they entered the cellar doors, they observed Brown in the basement and locked the cellar doors until police arrived.

Police recovered several copper water pipes that were freshly cut into small sections and were placed in a pillow case as well as two pipe cutters and other tools used for cutting copper pipes. Police charged brown with one count of burglary. He has been remanded to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting bail.

Reed also said Harrisburg Police separately arrested a 17-year-old juvenile on Sunday, April 20, 2008, in connection with a robbery that occurred in the 1200 block of Derry Street around 12:55 a.m.

Harrisburg Police responded to a call at that time and, upon arrival, came in contact with a victim that said he had just been robbed by five male juveniles. Witnesses in the area pointed to a group of juveniles and when police attempted to stop the group, they all ran. Police were able to detain the 17-year-old suspect. He is being charged with robbery and is currently being held at Schaffner Detention Center.

Reed said the four other male juveniles involved in the incident have not yet been arrested but that detectives are investigating their identities.

Harrisburg Police arrived on scene after receiving calls of a robbery. Upon arrival, they made contact with the victim who stated that an unknown black male pulled her pocketbook off of her arm and then fled the area.
