ARREST MADE IN AFTERNOON SHOOTING

Harrisburg, PA – Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said a shooting that occurred this afternoon in the area of North 19th and Park Streets has left one man injured and another in custody.

Reed said Harrisburg Police were called to the area around 12:45 p.m. after reports came in of shots fired and a man down. Upon arrival, police were directed to a home in the area of North 19th and Regina Streets where an individual was identified as having been shot multiple times in the back. The victim, whose name has not yet been confirmed by police, was immediately transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Reed said detectives arrived on scene and, after interviewing several witnesses, began an extensive manhunt to locate the shooter. After an hour-long search, police arrested Thomas Tobey, 34, of Susquehanna Twp., in connection with the shooting. Tobey was located and apprehended by police within the Hall Manor complex of South Allison Hill.

The Mayor said charges against Tobey are pending. He said police believe the incident stemmed from a domestic argument between Tobey and the victim.

Reed said the investigation is on-going. He urged anyone with information on the shooting to confidentially call Harrisburg Police at (717) 255-3131.
