SUSPECT IDENTIFIED AND ARRESTED IN YESTERDAYS HIGH-SPEED CHASE
Harrisburg, PA Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said Harrisburg Police have arrested a female suspect in connection with a high speed chase that began within the City of Harrisburg and ended in York County.
Reed said Tavonia Silmon-Gray, 25, of Lancaster, PA, has been arrested and charged with Prostitution, Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, False ID to Law Enforcement, Un-sworn Falsification to Police, Identity Theft, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude Police, and a variety of Vehicle Law Violations.
Reed said several undercover officers were performing a prostitution sting in the 500 block of S. Front Street around 12:30 p.m. The suspect, upon realization of the sting, entered her car and began to pull away, striking one police officer and nearly striking two others. She then led police on a chase into Camp Hill. The suspect then drove southbound on I-83 at a high rate of speed in an effort to elude police.
The Mayor said Pennsylvania State Police assisted in the chase which ended after the suspects tires were flattened with spike strips. The suspect then pulled over her car and was taken into custody.
Reed said Silmon-Gray was also wanted on a warrant out of Virginia. She was remanded to Dauphin County Prison in lieu of posting bail.
