THREE WEEKEND SHOOTING INCIDENTS LEAVE FIVE WOUNDED

Mayor Stephen R. Reed today said that three separate shooting incidents this weekend left five wounded. One shooting occurred late Friday night (11/23), one occurred early Saturday morning (11/24) and one occurred Sunday night (11/25).

Reed said Harrisburg Police were called to the 1600 block of N. 15th Street at 11:59 p.m. on Friday night for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, it was determined that three juveniles had been shot after a party disbanded at one of the Harrisburg Armory buildings a few minutes prior. Each of the victims was transported to local hospitals for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. All three victims have since been released from medical care.

Hours later, at 2:27 a.m. on Saturday morning, Harrisburg Police were dispatched to the 400 block of S. 13th Street for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, police identified Michael Todd Moore, 32, as having been shot once in the pelvis. Moore was transported to a nearby hospital and was treated for his injuries. Police are currently investigating this incident.

Reed said that the third weekend incident occurred around 10:05 p.m. on Sunday evening. Police were dispatched to the area of S. 13th Street and Cloverly Road for a report of shots fired. Police identified Jason Perry Barton, 24, as having been shot several times. Barton was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries. After being shot in the face, the victim ran from his assailants, described as two black males wearing black coats. After falling to the ground, face down, the shooters stood above him and shot him twice in the back. When arrested, they will be charged with attempted homicide and other offenses.

Reed said the Saturday and Sunday shootings appear to be both robberies and drug-related.

Each of these shootings is actively being investigated and more information will be released when available.

Persons with information on any of the incidents are urged to confidentially call Harrisburg Police at 255-3131.
