BOYO TRANSPORTATION OPENS NEW CITY HEADQUARTERS; BUS COMPANY PROVIDES TRANSPORTATION FOR 13 MIDSTATE SCHOOL DISTRICTSMayor Stephen R. Reed today cut the ribbon to officially dedicate the new corporate headquarters of Boyo Transportation Services, Inc, at 534 S. 23rd Street in the Melrose Gardens neighborhood. The new headquarters will house administrative offices for the growing school bus transportation company. Reed said Boyo Transportation Services, Inc. is owned and operated by Donald E. Boyanowski, of Palmyra, who started the company in 1999 after retiring from a state-run agency. The company began providing school bus transportation services to a single public school district in 1999, and has grown to now service 13 midstate school districts, including the Harrisburg School District, in three counties. The company employs 140 personnel, including 115 drivers, and has a fleet in excess of 120 buses and vans. 30 new jobs are created in the city with today’s grand opening. The Mayor said Boyo Transportation now occupies 2300 sq. ft. of office space at the site. Two existing city-based businesses, Your Vital Signs and Fiduk’s Industrial Services, are remaining in the 3340 sq. ft. of the building, which has a fenced-in parking lot surrounding it. Reed said Boyo Transportation has quickly developed a reputation for providing safe, quality and affordable school bus transportation services to both public and private school systems. Boyo drivers are well-trained, friendly and consider their passengers’ safety as their most important mission. Over 70% of their drivers are minorities and city residents. “Through vision, determination, sacrifice and hard work, Donald Boyanowski has built one of the region’s top transportation services companies in a very brief period of time,” said Mayor Reed. “His experience and professionalism have enabled Boyo Transportation Services to offer the highest-caliber of school bus services, while simultaneously saving their client Districts hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual costs, thus benefiting taxpayers throughout the midstate. “We are both delighted and honored to welcome Boyo to Harrisburg, and look forward to their continued growth and success here.” |
