6 JUVENILES ARRESTED IN SEPARATE WEAPONS, DRUGS & ROBBERY INCIDENTSMayor Stephen R. Reed today said 6 city juveniles were arrested over the weekend for separate robbery, drug sales and weapons law violations, and police are also searching for suspects in a weekend Allison Hill robbery. Those arrested include: - a 16-year old juvenile was arrested on a single count of Possession of a Firearm by a minor on Friday in the 1300 block of Rolleston Street. The minor was being sought by police for a previous firearm violation. Police executing a search warrant found a .32 cal. handgun hidden in his sneaker in a closest, and an adult female in the home, 35-year old Marina Lopez, was found in possession of five bags of marijuana for which she now also faces charges. - Two 16-year olds, a 15-year old and a 14-year old were arrested late Saturday night and early Sunday morning for two strong-arm robberies in Midtown and Downtown. The group first robbed a 40-year old Boas Street man in the 200 block of Liberty Street just before Midnight, repeatedly hitting the victim with a tire iron and fleeing with his wallet. Less than an hour later, two of the same group of juveniles robbed a 50-year old man in the 200 block of South Street, using the same tire iron from the earlier robbery. Both of the mugging victims were treated and released for their minor, non-life-threatening injuries. The four juvenile suspects are now charged with multiple robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and curfew violation counts. The tire iron used in the robberies was also recovered. The 16-year olds, one from the 2400 block of N. 5th Street and one from the 300 block of Seneca Street, and the 15-year old, of the 2100 block of N. 4th Street are being charged as adults, while the 14-year old is being charged as a juvenile. One of the 16-year old juveniles was also charged with Receiving Stolen Property when the key to a vehicle reportedly stolen from Carlisle was found on him. The stolen vehicle was recovered nearby. Reed said the juveniles are suspected in at least one additional robbery that occurred in the 900 block of Capital Street last week, where a victim and his wife were accosted in the same manner. - A 14-year old from the 3100 block of Derry Street was arrested early Sunday morning on multiple drug sales and curfew law violations after he attempted to sell crack cocaine to undercover officers. The undercover officers were sitting in a parked vehicle in the 200 block of Muench Street shortly after Midnight Sunday morning when the youth approached them and asked if they were looking for something. He was arrested as he reached into a pocket to withdraw a bag containing packaged crack cocaine. The Mayor said police are also searching for a group of robbers that attacked a 21-year old Royal Terrace man around 2:30 a.m. Sunday morning as he returned to his home after purchasing food. The victim said he was walking on Brady Street in Central Allison Hill when a dark-skinned black male, 5’4” tall and in his mid-teens, wearing an Atlanta Braves baseball jersey, black t-shirt and black shorts, took a pack of cigarettes from him. The victim got into a physical altercation with the thief and was quickly jumped by at least four additional black males, who punched, kicked and beat him with a garbage can. Other perpetrators are described as black males, including one dark-skinned, 5’7” tall, with a bushy beard and hair wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans; one dark-skinned in his mid-teens, standing 6’1” with short hair and wearing a black t-shirt and jeans. Three to four other attackers were described simply as black males, mid-teens, wearing black t-shirts and jeans. The victim refused medical treatment for minor bumps and bruises. The robbers got away with a small amount of cash, cigarettes and an order of fried chicken he had just picked up. |
