Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced the arrests of 20 suspects wanted in connection with a wide array of criminal offenses ranging from near fatal shootings to armed robberies, burglaries, drug sales and other offenses. Police are also searching for suspects in several different crimes for which the public’s assistance is being requested.

Reed said arrests made over the past week include:

- 20-year old Denishea Chambers, of the first block of S. 18th Street for her role in an armed robbery that occurred just after 11 p.m. on June 20th of last year. Two female victims, both aged 21 and from the Midtown area, were walking near the Broad Street Market when they were accosted by carload of persons who robbed them at gunpoint of their jewelry and purses. One of the victims was punched by one of the suspects before they were able to flee from the scene. Now arrested are two juvenile males, both aged 17, of the 2200 block of Penn Street and the 2000 block of N. 4th Street, and Chambers, on multiple robbery, aggravated assault and related conspiracy charges.

- 24-year old Orlando Montalvo, of Glendale, California, has been charged with multiple counts of Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Carrying a Firearm without a License, and other offenses for his June 6, 2006 shooting of two men in the 300 block of Hummel Street. 27-year old Ramon Arroya, and 28-year old Ricardo L. Reyes, both of South Allison Hill, were shot while walking in the 300 Block of Hummel Street just after 2:30 a.m. Both sustained serious life threatening injuries but have since recovered. The shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation between the men at a nightclub.

- 43-year old Elfreda M. Smith, of the first block of N. Summit Street, has been charged with a single count of Altering or Obliterating a Serial Number on a handgun found in her possession during a July 7, 2006 search of her home. Police were investigating an April robbery involving a 17-year old male resident of the household and found the weapon in her bedroom. The juvenile robbery suspect was charged with Possession of Marijuana and weapons law violations.

- Police are searching for 20-year old Daniel Quinones, of the first block of Evergreen Street, for shooting U.S. Marine Lance Corporal Sean Grimes, age 20, on August 14, around 10:30 p.m. near Hummel and Mulberry Streets. Grimes and Quinones had a physical altercation earlier in the evening during which Grimes had gotten the better of Quinones. The suspect returned an hour later armed with a .380 caliber handgun and opened fire, striking Grimes once in the back. Grimes, home on leave from Marine Corps training, sustained serious injury and has since had his gall bladder removed, as well as suffered other internal injuries. Quninones, who has also lived in the 1200 block of Mulberry Street, faces Attempted Homicide, Aggravated Assault and weapons law violation charges. Grimes has since been released from the Hospital. He was not home on leave from Iraq as witnesses earlier reported but instead had recently completed post-basic training continuing education.

- Police continue to search for 20-year old Deandre Strawbridge, of the 300 block of S. 3rd Street, who is wanted in connection with the August 21, 2006 armed robbery of the BELCO Community Credit Union branch office in Harrisburg Hospital. Strawbridge’s accomplice in the robbery, 19-year old Derrick Hitchcock, was arrested the day after the robbery and charged with Robbery and Conspiracy to Commit Robbery. Strawbridge, who police believe may have fled to Allentown, faces similar charges.

- 29-year old Sondra Dolison, of the 2700 block of Reel Street, has been charged with multiple counts related to her involvement in the fatal shooting of Daeshaun Auter earlier this month. Dolison is the girlfriend of Johnnie Wilkerson, the owner of the gun used in the shooting death and who is now in custody on murder charges. Wilkerson used his single phone call after being arrested to call Dolison and told her to dispose of the weapon used in the murder. Dolison lied to police about its whereabouts and the weapon has yet to be recovered. She is now charged with Tampering with Evidence, Hindering Apprehension, Criminal Conspiracy to Tamper with Evidence, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

A 15-year old male has also been charged with providing false statements to police and hindering apprehension for his role in the shooting. The youth gave police a false name and lied about his knowledge of the incident during questioning by police.

- A 15-year old male juvenile, whose last known address was in the 1500 block of Berryhill Street, has been charged with multiple counts of Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Conspiracy, Reckless Endangerment, False Statements to Police, Tampering with Evidence and firearms violations in connection with his involvement in several incidents, the most recent of which occurred on July 11, 2006 in the 1400 block of Derry Street around Midnight, when he and another man robbed a 25-year old man from the 900 block of Iroquois Court of his sneakers at gunpoint. The victim was uninjured. Patterson was arrested in a Philadelphia jailhouse, where he was being held on unrelated charges for acts committed there. Two 17-year old accomplices have also been charged with Robbery, Aggravated Assault and other counts in connection with the incident.

- 46-year old Paul A. Verbose, of the 900 block of N. 3rd Street, was charged with Failing to Register as a Sex Offender following an August 17 incident in Riverfront Park. An officer observed Verbose throwing trash in the park and subsequent investigation revealed him to be a Megan’s Law offender required to register his address with PA State Police. His last registered address was in Newberry Township in 2002, but he has been in the city for sometime.

- 20-year old Joan M. Trinta, of Hall Manor, has been charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia in connection with an August 15, 2006 incident in Hall Manor. On probation for a previous offense, Trinta’s probation officer was making a home visit when he found marijuana at her home. Further investigation revealed 43 packets of heroin packaged for sell, and a large amount of cash. Trinta is believed to have been a major street level supplier of drugs in the South Harrisburg public housing complex.

- A 16-year old male has been charged with providing false information to to police regarding an August 18, 2006 shooting incident that occurred just before 9 a.m. in the 1600 block of Zarker Street. The youth, from the 1300 block of Rolleston Street, told police he had been shot in the leg by two black males during an attempted robbery. Further investigation revealed the alleged victim to have actually been attempting to shoot another person when he shot himself in the leg as he was pulling his .32 caliber handgun out of his pants. He then concocted the robbery story told to police. Officers conducting a search of his home found the weapon hidden inside his sneaker, as well as marijuana and drug paraphernalia. A female resident of the household, 26-year old Marina Lopez, was charged with a single count of Possession of Marijuana. Additional charges are likely to be filed against both the suspect and his juvenile brother.

- 18-year old Tyrell Brown, of Baltimore, was charged with Resisting Arrest, Possession of Drugs, Possession with Intent to Deliver, Tampering With Evidence, Disorderly Conduct and Riot, in connection with his August 23, 2006 arrest in Hall Manor. Detectives looking for a suspect in a shooting incident observed Brown dispose of a marijuana “blunt” and subsequently found crack cocaine packaged for sell on his person. Brown resisted arrest and fought violently with police, attracting a large crowd that he and his sister attempted to incite riot. Brown’s sister, 25-year old Lakisha D. Brady, of Hall Manor, was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Failure to Disperse and Attempting to Incite Riot for her attempts to free her brother and stir up trouble amongst the gathered crowd.

- 25-year old Isaiah Richmond and 27-year old Lavonne K. Burton, both of the 1900 block of Zarker Street, for their involvement in a Friday morning incident in which they initially told police they were robbed by three black males while exiting a corner grocery store. Richmond later admitted that he had beaten Burton during an argument, and that she retaliated with a knife, causing multiple lacerations. She was also cut during the incident. Richmond is now charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Filing Fictitious Reports and Possession of an Instrument of Crime. Burton is now also charged with Hindering Apprehension and Providing False Information.

- 38-year old Dennis Ray Kershaw, of the 300 block of N. 3rd Street, has been charged with one count of Robbery, stemming from an incident on Sunday morning when he was caught by a vehicle owner breaking into the vehicle. The victim attempted to detain the suspect, but Kershaw pulled a hammer from his waist and threatened attack. The suspect got away but was spotted a short time later and arrested. Kershaw is suspected in multiple other instances of vehicle windows being smashed out to gain entry to steal items.

Mayor Reed said city police are also looking for suspects in two separate shooting incidents that occurred over the weekend, both near the 1500 block of N. 6th Street.

In the first incident, 34-year old Michael A. Hite, of Carnation Street, sustained a single gunshot wound to the leg around 2 a.m. Saturday morning in front of Roebuck’s Bar. Hite was uncooperative with responding police and has refused to provide information on who shot him. Hite was treated and released for his injuries. A second shooting incident occurred the next night, early Sunday morning, right around the corner from the earlier incident in front of the American Legion after-hours club at 620 Harris Street. 32-year old Robert Lee Kenon, of the first block of S. 17th Street, sustained a single gunshot wound to the shoulder just before 2:30 a.m. Police believe the shooter may have been a black male identified only as

“Mason”, who is 5’11” tall, with a bald head, muscular build and medium complexion. He was last seen wearing a sleeveless t-shirt. Kenon is expected to survive his wound.
