MIDTOWN BURGLAR & 3 ROBBERY SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that city police have arrested three persons on multiple robbery charges, and a fourth suspect wanted for a series of Midtown burglaries has now also been taken into custody.

The Mayor said city police arrested 36-year old Frank Clark, of the 2600 block of N. 6th Street, in connection with two burglaries that occurred Saturday in Midtown. Clark attempted to gain entry to a home in the 1200 block of N. 2nd St. when residents alerted police. Responding officers found Clark hiding in the rear yard of a nearby home with a bag containing items stolen earlier in the day from a residence in the 100 block of Boas Street. Clark has now been charged with single counts each of Burglary, Criminal Mischief, Criminal Attempt Burglary, Loitering & Prowling, Public Drunkenness, Receiving Stolen Property, Driving without a License and Illegal Parking. Reed said police believe Clark may be responsible for many more burglaries that have occurred in the Midtown in recent months.

Reed said police have also arrested 21-year old Corey Jordon, of the 1900 block of Tasker Street in Philadelphia, on multiple robbery charges in connection with the June 3, 2006 robbery of a 26-year old Allison Hill man. Jordan and an unidentified accomplice robbed the man of his wallet at gunpoint just after 1 a.m. near the intersection of S.13th and Derry Streets. The victim waived down a passing police car who promptly gave chase to the pair, capturing Jordan after a lengthy foot chase and recovering the weapon used in the robbery. Jordan’s accomplice got away. Jordan, believed to be a suspect in multiple robberies that are being investigated, has now been charged with 2 cts. each of Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Robbery and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The Mayor said city police have also arrested a West Shore couple on robbery charges in connection with a theft that occurred at the Kline Village Shopping Center on June 22, 2006. Reed said a 30-year old Elizabethtown woman was robbed of her wallet around 12:45 p.m. by 35-year old William Stuart Watson, of Mount Holly Springs. Watson and his accomplice, 28-year old Michelle Marie Dagneau, the driver of their white getaway vehicle, then fled the scene. On July 7, 2006, the pair were arrested by Camp Hill police for a purse snatching that occurred outside the Giant Food Store on Trindle Road, and later admitted to arresting officers that they had also committed the Kline Village robbery. The pair now face multiple robbery charges, including 2 cts. Robbery, 1 ct. Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, Forgery, Fraud and related charges, with many more charges lodged against them in Cumberland County.

Reed said city police continue to investigate a shooting incident that occurred over the weekend. A 26-year old resident of the 2400 block of N. 4th Street sustained a single gunshot wound to the leg sometime early Sunday morning but did not seek treatment until yesterday afternoon, unknowing he had even been shot. The victim said he last remembered walking in the area of Penn and Muench Street around 1 a.m. Sunday morning, but could not recall being shot. He discovered the wound when he awoke on Sunday afternoon and sought treatment at the hospital, where police were notified.

Mayor Reed said police are also investigating an arson fire that occurred at an Uptown apartment building last evening around 9:30 p.m., when an unidentified person started two fires on separate floors of the large Korman Community apartment complex at 2311 N. Front Street. Two small fires were deliberately set in trash rooms on the 8th and 9th floors of the large luxury apartment complex, with the building’s sprinkler activation dousing both and causing some water damage. Investigators have no suspects and are not releasing how the fires were started at this time.

Anyone with information about either of the incidents are asked to call city police at (717) 255.3040.
