WIND & WOOD REUNION CONCERT SLATED FOR FORUM ON SATURDAY, NOV. 19 AT 7:30 P.M.; BENEFITS WOMEN’S CIRCLE MENTORING PROJECTMayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that members of the popular musical group Wind and Wood and other performers will reunite for a special benefit concert at the Forum Building this coming Saturday, Nov. 19, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets to the one time only Anne Billmyer Memorial Concert are $20 and benefit the Women’s Circle Mentoring Program. The band has not performed together since 1985, when lead singer Billmyer unexpectedly passed away. Reed said Wind and Wood was one of the most popular musical groups in the midstate during their heyday in the early and mid-1980’s, and featured the dynamic trio of Anne Billmyer, Bobbi Carmitchell and Deenie Hamacher. Carmitchell has become a well known soloist in the midstate since, and Hamacher relocated to San Francisco, where she also continued playing. The pair are reuniting in memory of the 20th anniversary of Billmyer’s untimely death, which shocked their thousands of midstate fans and led to the band’s dissolution. A staple of the mdistate music scene and one of the most popular bands to ever perform at the city’s waterfront festivals, Wind and Wood was beloved by its fans for its musical excellence and diversity, outstanding vocal harmonies and engaging comedic interaction with their audiences. The Mayor said tickets to Saturday night’s event are $20 per person with proceeds partially benefiting the Women’s Circle Mentoring Program. All seats are general admission and can be purchased at the door. An exhibition of Wind and Wood memorabilia will also be on display, and their only release, “the limo is waiting”, is being reissued on compact disc with new live material added. Orders will be taken for the new cd at the concert. |
