LIVE MUSICAL ENTERTAINMENT LINE-UP FOR WHBG TV-20 FOOD BANK TELETHON SET; EVENT RUNS NOON TO 9 P.M. ON FRI. NOV. 18 AT SCI TECH HIGHThe City of Harrisburg’s 2nd Annual SouthCentral Pennsylvania Food Bank Telethon, airing live on the city’s WHBG TV-20, will feature nine different musical entertainment groups ranging from Gospel to Country, Mayor Stephen R. Reed announced today. The live telethon is this year being broadcast from the lobby of Sci Tech High School at 223 Market Street in the heart of downtown. Reed said the telethon, first begun at his direction last year, raises money and donated non-perishable foodstuffs for the SouthCentral Pennsylvania Food Bank. Last year over $1,100 in cash and hundreds of pounds of non-perishable foods were donated. The Mayor said this year’s telethon begins at Noon and runs through 9 p.m. Featured entertainment appearing tomorrow includes the Stevenson Twins, Rob and Michelle Yost, Sherri Mullen and George Smith, Charles Lee, Infamous Jazz Money and Doc Proc, The Out Islanders, Felicia Hicks and a yet to be named Gospel music group. Country music stars Smokin Gunnz headline the daylong fund and food raising project. Reed said volunteers from the Food Bank and city-owned and operated television station will be on-hand throughout the telethon to collect checks and foodstuffs from citizens interested in giving to the cause. “Holidays always stretch the Food Bank’s resources to their limit,” said Reed, “making the donation of cash and food especially important around this time. Each of us can help ensure that our neighbors do not go hungry over the extended holiday weekend by simply donating a few dollars, or non-perishable goods.” |
