HOWARD TIRE CO. SERVICE FACILITY OPENS ON CAMERON STREET

Mayor Stephen R. Reed today cut the ribbon during dedication services for the new Howard Tire Company Inc., at 203-205 S. Cameron Street. The new automotive service center offers a full range of tire and automotive care services to the public.

Reed said the new Howard Tire Company is owned and operated by Howard and Monique Henry, and occupies 18,000 sq. ft. of space with 10 service bays. The business has been in operation for 8 years and was previously located in outside the city. A city Business Development Loan of $150,000, and private financing from M&T Bank enabled the company to purchase and equip the new automotive service center, which employs 11 full and part time employees. Henry has been in the automotive care business since he was a teenager.

The Mayor said the new garage offers a full range of automotive services, including state inspections, emission tests, all general repairs, oil changes and lubes, and specializes in new and used tires. It features Hankook tires, and uses authorized NAPA and AC Delco parts.

“This is a terrific new automotive care center,” said Mayor Reed, “that can easily repair most any type of vehicle or problem. Plus it has the added benefit of being strategically located to a commuting workforce that numbers in the tens of thousands each day, making it very convenient for downtown workers to drop off their cars in the morning and then pick them up at the end of the workday. We think the Howard Tire Company is going to become very popular with the motoring public, and we are delighted to welcome them to our expanding business base.”

The Mayor noted that more than 40,000 vehicles pass by the new garage each day on Cameron Street, one of the most heavily traveled non-Interstate roads in the midstate.

Reed said the Howard Tire Company is open Mondays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. They can be reached at (717) 303.1918.
