INNER VISIONS AND DANNY DREAD FEATURED PERFORMERS FOR 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF HBG SUNSPLASH REGGAE FESTIVAL AT LEVITT PAVILION

 Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that the Harrisburg Sunsplash Reggae Festival, celebrating its 20th Anniversary, has been slated for Friday and Saturday, August 5 and 6, at the Levitt Pavilion in Reservoir Park. Featured performers for this year’s free milestone event include “Inner Visions” and “Danny Dread and The Dread Society”.

MAYOR REED ANNOUNCES HARRISBURG REGIONAL CHAMBER & CREDC’S FIRST ANNUAL BUSINESS DIVERSITY WORKS CONFERENCE

 At a press conference today, Stephen R. Reed, Mayor, City of Harrisburg, announced the first annual Harrisburg Regional Chamber & CREDC Business Diversity Works Conference. The event will be held on Wednesday, September 7th at the Hershey Lodge, with registration and a continental breakfast at 7:30 a.m., and the program beginning at 8:30 a.m.

HARRISBURG RECEIVES TOP NATIONAL BUDGETING AWARD FOR 14TH YEAR

– Mayor Stephen R. Reed today reported that the City of Harrisburg has received the top national award for budgeting, for the 14th consecutive year, and is one of only 4 municipalities of the 2,566 municipalities in Pennsylvania to do so.

CAFÉ FRESCO CENTER CITY ADDS TO RESTAURANT ROW

– Mayor Stephen R. Reed today cut the ribbon to officially open Café Fresco Center City at 215 N. 2nd Street in the heart of downtown Harrisburg’s “Restaurant Row.” The new eatery features a full menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings, with an emphasis on gourmet coffees and espresso, and is downtown Harrisburg’s first smoke-free restaurant and nightclub.

NEW CITY ACCESSIBILITY DESIGN GUIDELINES BOOKLET PROVIDES INSTRUCTIONS & IDEAS FOR MAKING BUSINESSES ACCESSIBLE TO DISABLED

– Mayor Stephen R. Reed today unveiled a new city publication designed to provide small business owners with helpful tips and instructions for making properties more accessible to the disabled. Prepared with the input of the Center for Independent Living of Central Pennsylvania(CILCP) and the Accessible Communities Today(ACT) citizens advocacy group, the new Accessibility Design Guidelines booklet is available free of charge to anyone desiring a copy.

CITY ARRESTS 10 IN SERIES OF BURGLARIES & SHOOTINGS

Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that city police have arrested 10 persons this far, with additional arrests expected, in a series of unrelated burglaries and shootings.

CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT WORKING ON $9.2 MILLION IN BUDGET CUTS

 Mayor Stephen R. Reed today reported that intensive work has started to cut $9.2 million from the Harrisburg School District’s 2005-2006 budget, which took effect on July 1, as a result of the elimination of $12 million in earmarked state funds from the finally adopted state budget.

EAST PENNSBORO MAN CHARGED WITH 50 COUNTS OF CRIMINAL MISCHIEF AS ONE OF THE “SLK” GRAFFITI VANDALS; OTHERS BEING SOUGHT

 Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that an East Pennsboro man has been arrested today by the city and charged with 50 criminal counts related to vandalism at numerous city homes, businesses and public areas since last October, during which he spray-painted graffiti as “SLK” and “Slick”. Additional persons are also being sought.

ITALIAN LAKE CONCERT SERIES TO FEATURE FREE LIVE PERFORMANCES EACH SUNDAY AFTERNOON

 Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that the city is again presenting the 2005 Italian Lake Concert Series, which kicks off this coming Sunday, July 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Italian Lake Park at N. 3rd and Division Streets in uptown Harrisburg. The free concert series features live musical offerings each Sunday afternoon through August 24, and is bigger and better this year thanks to a supporting grant from the Pennsylvania Council On The Arts.
