BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS TO START NEW “CLUB WITHOUT WALLS” AT DOWNEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today cut the ribbon to open the Cumberland Road Boys and Girls Club’s new “Club Without Walls” program at Downey Elementary School, 1313 Monroe Street. The new program expands recreational and other summer fun activities for youth who attend the Downey Elementary School and or live in the nearby area.

NEW RETAIL DEVELOPMENT SLATED FOR AGATE AND DIVISION STREETS IN UPTOWN HARRISBURG
Mayor Stephen R. Reed and developers David and Steven Miller, operating as the David and Steve Miller Partnership, today conducted ground- breaking ceremonies for a new retail plaza at Agate and Division Streets in Uptown Harrisburg. The new plaza will house a full-service laundromat and four other retail stores.

OVER A HALF-MILLION DOLLARS COMMITTED TO HOMELESS, HUMAN SERVICES AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that $549,631 in funds have been issued to further support homeless services, human services and the further creation of affordable housing for persons and families of limited income. It is part of the city’s overall residential development program.

FOUNDERS OF FRIENDS OF JAZZ RECOGNIZED BY MAYOR TODAY; 25TH ANNUAL JAZZ FESTIVAL SLATED FOR THIS WEEKEND AT HILTON HOTEL
Mayor Stephen R. Reed recognized the extraordinary efforts of four mid State men who served as founders of the respected Central Pennsylvania Friends of Jazz (CPFJ) organization twenty-five years ago, and have since guided it into one of the nation’s foremost jazz performance clubs. The recognitions kicked off the CPFJ’s 25th Annual Commerce Bank Central PA Jazz Festival, being held at the Harrisburg Hilton and Towers this weekend, June 9-12.

DELOITTE ANNOUNCES “DAY OFF” FOR GLOBAL IMPACT DAY; VOLS TO PERFORM COMMUNITY SERVICE WORK IN S. ALLISON HILL
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that the internationally recognized Deloitte and Touche USA LLP, will conduct a volunteer clean-up campaign in South Allison Hill on Friday, June 3, as part of the firm’s international “Global IMPACT Day”. The daylong volunteer event will realize nearly 240,000 hours of volunteer service by the firm’s 30,000 employees worldwide.
