Harrisburg Cougars Girls’ Basketball Team Receive Championship Rings
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today presented the members of the Harrisburg High School Girls’ Basketball team with their specially designed championship rings. Runners–up in the 2004 State PIAA Championships, the 32–1 Lady Cougars did win the league, District and Eastern state championships during their historic 2003–04 campaign.
Life Sciences Greenhouse Office Moves Downtown
Mayor Stephen R. Reed and the Harristown Development Corporation announced today that Life Sciences Greenhouse of Central Pennsylvania (LSGPA) will be moving its offices from TecPort in Swatara Township to Harrisburg’s Colonial Building at 225 Market Street (the corner of Third and Market Streets). The organization will occupy approximately 4,500 square feet on the fifth floor beginning in September.

Woman Charged With DUI Homicide In Fatal Front Street Crash
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that 21-year old Melissa D. Cummings, of Eighty Four, Pennsylvania, faces numerous charges in connection with last evening’s fatal traffic accident on South Front Street. Killed instantly in the crash was 55-year old Jack Hynen, of Clinton Street in Harrisburg.

Harrisburg High School Of Business And Industry Prep Program Benefits From UPS Foundation Check; Major Regional Employer Donates Over $10,000 To Innovative Business Education Program
Harrisburg High School’s innovative School of Business and Industry Prep(SBI) received a substantial boost today as the United Parcel Service(UPS) Foundation presented a check for $10,812.00 to the business education program. The check was presented to Mayor Stephen R. Reed by UPS Vice President of Central Pennsylvania, Mary Gill, and the funds will be used to provide students with new laptop computers for use in conjunction with the SBI program.

Mayor Stephen R. Reed today reported that city police have seized two homemade explosive devices, during an early morning search at 902 N. Third Street, located several hundred yards from the Main Capitol Building.

Class Of 2003 Yearbooks Will Be Provided To City School Students
Mayor Stephen R. Reed today reported that students who graduated from Harrisburg High School in the Class of 2003 will get full hardbound yearbooks. The 200-page books will be printed separately but at the same time as when the Class of 2004 yearbooks are printed over the summer months.
