MAYOR ANNOUNCES CITY EASTER EGG HUNT—SET FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 3, IN RESERVOIR PARKHarrisburg, PA—Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that the City of Harrisburg’s popular annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, April 3, in Reservoir Park. Festivities, all of which are free and open to the public, begin at 9:00 a.m. and include multiple age-specific decorated egg hunts and visits with the Easter Bunny, a petting zoo, face painting, games, Police Mounted Units, Harrisburg High Cheerleaders and Cougar Mascot, and much more. There will also be Winnie the Pooh, Scooby Doo, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Magic by Parky, Kic-It & Tic-It, the city Fire Bureau’s Smoke House Safety Demonstration Trailer, food and take home gardens. The Harrisburg Parks Partnership’s Park C. Squirrel Mascot will preside. Visits with the Easter Bunny are available to all children, who will receive a free decorated egg during their visit. Reed said the eagerly anticipated free Spring Holiday celebration attracts thousands of city youth and their parents, so interested attendees should plan on arriving early. Activities will take place in the lawn areas around the Levitt Pavilion and other nearby park facilities, including the Reservoir Park Mansion and the large picnic pavilions. The Mayor said multiple egg hunts are conducted as part of the program, with participants divided into age-specific categories so that all children are given a chance to find eggs. Many of the plastic eggs used for the hunts contain special prizes or gift certificates that can be redeemed for other merchandise. Reed said the city Department of Parks and Recreation sponsors and coordinates the event, and is pleased to be joined by cosponsors Giant Foods, Middlesworth Potato Chips, Just Born Candy Co., Holy Family School, Bishop McDevitt High School, Dauphin County Sheriff’s Office, Saturn Car Dealership, Harrisburg Senators Baseball Club, and the Harrisburg Bureaus of Fire and Police. The Mayor noted that work on a new entrance to Reservoir Park at Walnut and State Streets has closed the park entrance area behind the Levitt Pavilion, requiring all participants or attendees to access the park through either the 18th and Walnut Streets entrance, or the Market Street entrance located one block south of John Harris High School. The raindate for the event will be the following Saturday, April 10, with the same 9:00 a.m. starting time. XXX |
