CANTONE’S DOWNTOWN OPENS ON RESTAURANT ROW

Harrisburg, PA — Mayor Stephen R. Reed today conducted grand opening services for the new Cantone’s Downtown restaurant at 114 N. Second Street, in the heart of ’Restaurant Row’. The distinctive new upscale eatery is owned by noted midstate restaurateur Nick Cantone and partners John and David Brinjac, and will feature Cantone’s legendary Southern Italian cuisine.

The Mayor said the new downtown dining attraction features an open, European-styled ambiance, with scenes of Little Italy adorning interior walls and dividers. The restaurant will have seating for 106 diners inside and 50 outdoors, and includes a dramatic new 18 ft. rosewood horseshoe bar, handmade by the city-based Woodlore Company. A special small function room, located in the vault of a bank that was formerly located at the site, will also be available for private events and functions.

Reed said more than 30 full and part-time jobs are created by the new restaurant, which was entirely financed by Commerce Bank, who will also soon be opening their first city-based branch across the street from Cantone’s at N. Second and Walnut Streets.

“We’re delighted to welcome Nick Cantone to donwtown,” said the Mayor. “For over two decades the Cantone name has been associated with the very best in midstate dining, and the opening of this distinctive new eatery will expand upon that legend. Cantone’s is well known for their excellent cuisine and upscale atmosphere and we believe they’ll be very successful at this strategic new location in downtown Harrisburg.”

The Mayor noted that Cantone’s will also feature nationally renowned musical entertainment, with noted entertainers Hunter Hayes, Charles and Walter Diggs and the Four Good Men all slated for appearances in coming weeks.

Reed said Cantone’s Downtown will be open daily for lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. for dinner on Mondays through Saturdays. The lounge and bar will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Cantone’s Downtown can be reached (717)260.0010.
