DELOITTE ANNOUNCES “DAY OFF” FOR GLOBAL IMPACT DAY; VOLS TO PERFORM COMMUNITY SERVICE WORK IN S. ALLISON HILLMayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that the internationally recognized Deloitte and Touche USA LLP, will conduct a volunteer clean-up campaign in South Allison Hill on Friday, June 3, as part of the firm’s international “Global IMPACT Day”. The daylong volunteer event will realize nearly 240,000 hours of volunteer service by the firm’s 30,000 employees worldwide. “We believe a national day of service has long lasting effect on our corporate culture of community involvement,” said Deloitte CEO James H. Quigley. “It underscores our belief that community involvement is a business imperative. We place the highest value on our people’s time, knowledge and business skills, and feel we have a duty and privilege to contribute to non-profit organizations working to address social issues.” Mayor Reed lauded the efforts of Deloitte and Touche, noting that they have “set a standard of professional conduct and charitable involvement.” Reed said the volunteer work being donated by Deloitte and Touche nationally amounts to more than $4 billion worth of time. Reed noted that the more than 100 local employees of Deloitte and Touche will participate in the clean-up drive, providing painting and graffiti removal, clearing overgrown weeds and planting new flowers, and general litter removal. “Volunteerism is a year round activity at Deloitte and Touche,” said Anne Rouse Sudduth, Deloitte and Touche’s national director of community involvement. “Our people are very engaged in community service so IMPACT Day is an exciting celebration of Deloitte and Touche’s culture of service.” Deloitte and Touche strongly encourages its employees to volunteer their time and talent, recognizes them for doing so, and rewards them for encouraging others to get involved.
