CITY ISLAND PARKING LOTS REOPEN WEDNESDAY; SENATORS HOME OPENER SLATED FOR THURSDAY, APRIL 7

Mayor Stephen R. Reed today announced that the parking lots on City Island will reopen tomorrow morning, Wednesday, April 6, and that the Senators Home Opener will go on as scheduled on Thursday, April 7 at 6:35 p.m.

Reed said the new Commerce Park field is in excellent condition and held up well under the flooding. Water has now completely drained from the field and most other parts of the Island, and city crews are working extended hours to clean and restore areas hit by flooding. Some but not all of the dozens of buildings that comprise RiverSide Village Park and other Island attractions will be returned to their normal locations by Thursday night’s home opener for the Senators.

The Mayor said city crews have now cleared the south parking lot on the Island and are working late this evening to clean the north lot, so that commuter parking may resume on Wednesday morning. Both lots will be available for parkers tomorrow morning.

Reed said only a few residential property owners were affected by this weekend’s flooding, with most having a few inches to several feet of basement water. All have now been pumped out and clean-up work is underway. No special clean-up efforts in the Shipoke area will be necessary.
