Neighborhood Clean-up Initiative Completed Early-Graffiti Clean-Up Services

Harrisburg’s city-wide bulk trash pickup initiative started on April 6, 2009 and was slated to last eighteen weeks. It was completed on June 16, well ahead of schedule, according to Harrisburg City Councilwoman Patty Kim, who chairs City Council’s Public Works Committee.

Mayor Stephen R. Reed said that City crews picked up more than 3.1 million pounds of bulk trash, as well as more than 3,590 pounds of tires. 43,110 pounds of metal items were sold to B. Abrams & Sons, Inc., a scrap metal business on North Cameron Street. The City also picked up more than 1.4 million pounds of illegally dumped debris before the start of the April initiative.
