ASSISTANT CITY CLERK

The City of Harrisburg is currently accepting resumes/applications for the position of Assistant City Clerk. The position requires knowledge and skills in a variety of areas. Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college and five (5) years of professional experience in government-related work or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. A Post-Bachelors degree is preferred; plus a valid driver’s license, class C, or equivalent, and all other requirements which may be prescribed by law. It is essential that the applicant have excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, e-mail, and the internet.

The successful candidate must establish residency within the corporate limits of the City of Harrisburg within one year from date of hire.

The City of Harrisburg offers a competitive salary package, commensurate with experience ($46,000 - $53,000), plus medical, vision, prescription drug, and dental coverages for employee and family, pension and deferred compensation plans, life insurance and paid leave.

DEPUTY DIRECTOR - BUREAU OF NEIGHBORHOOD SERVICES

The City of Harrisburg, Department of Public Works, is currently accepting applications/resumes for the position of Deputy Director for the Bureau of Neighborhood Services. This position is responsible for directing the administration, planning, and maintenance of street signs, traffic signals and related electrical devices, streets, storm and sanitary sewers, refuse collection and disposal activities of the City, and demolition of condemned buildings/structures. High School diploma or equivalent is required, with preference given to completion of college level course work in engineering, business or public administration. Extensive experience in street signs, traffic signals and related electrical devices, streets, maintenance, demolition of condemned buildings/structures, refuse collection activities, several years of which shall have been as a foreman or in a supervisory capacity, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities for this position. A valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License is also required.

Residency must be established within the corporate limits of the City of Harrisburg within one (1) year of employment.

Salary: $46,000; with excellent benefits package.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE I

The Bureau of Operations and Revenue for the City of Harrisburg is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Customer Service Representative I. This position is responsible for research, analysis and clerical work related to City utility and real estate tax accounts, and involves considerable interaction with the public. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and six (6) courses in a Business Curriculum, two (2) of which must be in accounting and/or record keeping. Additionally, applicants must possess two (2) years of experience in office work involving accounting, record keeping and direct public contact and one (1) year of experience in collection work, or any acceptable equivalent combination of training and/or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Residency within the corporate limits of the City of Harrisburg is required within twelve (12) months of the completion of the probationary period.

TECHNICAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATOR
BUREAU OF POLICE

The City of Harrisburg is recruiting qualified applicants for the position of Technical Services Administrator for the Bureau of Police, Technical Services Division. This is a management position having responsibility for supervising and overseeing the operations of the Police Communications Center, Parking Enforcement Unit and Records Center. Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Police Administration, Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or Business Administration from an accredited college or university or equivalent. At least two years supervisory experience in an emergency service dispatch setting is required. Must be familiar with federal, state and local laws relating to communications center and records center operations. Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania motor vehicle operator’s license required.

Salary: $48,000.00 to $53,000.00 (commensurate with experience and qualifications), plus excellent fringe benefits.

DEPUTY DIRECTOR FOR PLANNING
DEPARTMENT OF BUILDING AND HOUSING DEVELOPMENT

Harrisburg, the capital city of Pennsylvania, is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Director for Planning. This individual is responsible for directing and administering the City’s planning program.

Minimum requirements include a Master’s degree preferably in City Planning, or in landscape architecture, or engineering, or Sociology or Public Administration. Extensive experience in City Planning, along with considerable supervisory experience required. Any combination of education and experience commensurate with the above mentioned qualifications may be considered.

Administrative Assistant I

The City of Harrisburg is in the process of creating a pool of qualified personnel for the position of Administrative Assistant. This position performs responsible clerical and administrative duties involving the study and application of administrative systems, policies, procedures and practices. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. This position requires four years of progressive experience in clerical work, the ability to type 55 words or more per minute, and must be certified or possess the ability to pass the proficiency test to become certified in the operation of word processing equipment at the time of appointment.
