 Founded in 1964, Pennsylvania's oldest and largest Community College. City's principal institution of higher learning encompassing 212 beautifully landscaped acres of former parkland. Campus features the Rose Lehrman Performing Arts Center and the 43,000 sq. foot Wildwood Conference Center; a major regional destination.

 Pennsylvania's first state facility to house the mentally ill and disabled. Opened in 1851 as a result of the successful lobbying efforts of 19th Century social reformer, Dorothea Dix. Stately buildings in pastoral setting.

2. Harrisburg State Hospital*

 Sprawling facility begun in 1931 consuming thirteen acres under one roof, and site of the Pennsylvania State Farm Show, the largest agricultural exhibition in the U.S., as well as many regional and national trade shows. Separate 8,000-seat area building hosts major events and attractions and is home to the Harrisburg Heat indoor professional soccer team. Major [recent] expansions include a new exhibition hall, equestrian center and stables.

 Last remnants of the "Eastern Division" of the old canal, (1826 -1901) which preceded and established the course for the development of the Pennsylvania Railroad. Signifies Harrisburg's early importance as a transportation center.

4. Pennsylvania Canal
South Cameron Street and Wildwood Park Along Industrial Road

 210-acre wildlife preserve established in 1910, representing the appearance of the Susquehanna lowlands in their natural state prior to the urbanization of Harrisburg. Bikeway trails and forested hills surround tranquil Wildwood Lake. Part of the "City Beautiful" park system. Features the Olewine Nature Center with its wetland exhibits, bird viewing areas and nature shop.
