recycle logoFollowing are the City’s guidelines for recycling. Citizens are reminded that household recyclables are collected only at the front curb on the same day as trash is collected. Only blue bins are to be used for recycling materials.

    Diapers, Paint Cans, Cleaning Fluid, Cans, Metal Parts, Fixtures, Plate, Glass, Mirrors, Garbage, Refuse
  • Nothing in Plastic Bags
  • Food/Beverage Cans, Glass Bottles
    Jars, Plastic Bottles
  • Rinse and Remove Caps from all Items
  • Dry Newspaper tied or in a Brown Paper Bag
  • Phone Books

RECYCLABLES ARE NOT TO BE PLACED IN PLASTIC BAGS.

Replacement recycle bins cost $5.00 and are available during normal business hours at:

The County of Dauphin sponsors a curbside household hazardous waste program for county residents. The program can be used once per year per household by calling 1-800-449-7587. You can properly dispose of your unwanted household hazardous waste items such as:

Dauphin County Department of Solid Waste and Recycling also sponsors E-Waste Drop Off Days, where electronics, appliances, like computers, printers, fax machines, etc. can be recycled. For more information, please call 717-780-6351

Non-Residential properties are required to recycle high-grade office paper, cardboard, aluminum, and leaf waste. The City does not collect office paper or bulk cardboard in its household recycling program, but several private firms in the area have commercial recycling programs. Any property not using the City recycling trucks must submit an annual report of the amount and type of material recycled. Annual forms can be obtained by calling 717-236-5274.
