Permits Provided by the Bureau of Codes
Building/Fire/Zoning Permit
This is the one application you need to complete for any work you may doing to a structure, whether a building or a fence or a sign. This one permit handles building code, fire code and zoning code compliance for the structure and the use.
Zoning/Fire Permit
Simply seeking approval of a use? This is the form for you. The packet includes the Business Privilege and Mercantile License application with the Zoning/fire Permit.
Electrical Permits
Use the Electrical Permit application for all work NOT solely involving low voltage lines for alarm, communications or similar systems,. This application requires the authorization of a Master Electrician.
If installing an alarm system, or doing communications (e.g.: digital, cable, telephone) or a similar system, you may use the Communication Cabling Application.
This work does not require a Master Electrician, but does require the installer to be licensed with the City. You may become licensed by submitting the Communications Cabling License Application.
Plumbing Permits
For any work involving plumbing, you must use a plumber licensed by the City. The plumber is to complete the attached application.
If you are installing a hot water heater, furnace or a sprinkler system, you must also obtain a Fire Prevention Code Permit. See below.
Fire Prevention Code Permit
The Code Bureau administers this on behalf of the Fire Bureau. Anything related to sprinkler systems and appurtenances or any type of device that utilizes flames requires this application to be completed and submitted with the other associated permits.
