The bureau administers four separate boards, each being an appeal board, though licensing matters are also considered by the Electrical and Plumbing Boards. While meetings are scheduled for this year for the Housing Code Board of Appeals and the Health Board, the boards will only meet if there is a matter pending before them. The Electrical Board and Plumbing Board have no set schedule but will be convened when necessary.
If you should dispute a finding or regulation cited by Codes Bureau staff, this board is your avenue for appealing to a board of citizens.
Composed of electricians, this board’s purpose is to hear appeals and license issues that electricians bring to the board’s attention.
Composed of plumbers and construction professionals, this board’s purpose is to hear appeals and license issues that electricians bring to the board’s attention.
Composed of medical professionals, the board’s purpose is to hear appeals or health-related matters any person may bring to the board’s attention.
The City no longer performs these tests under the auspices of these boards. The testing for Electrical and Plumbing Licenses is conducted by the International Code Council. Contact the Council at www.iccsafe.org.
