ABOUT EDUCATION IN HARRISBURG

The City of Harrisburg functions as the Capital City for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as well as the major residential, cultural, financial, tourism and legal hub for the region. In more recent years, the City has evolved into a major center for secondary and higher education. Significant and diverse learning opportunities abound within the City, as well as the metropolitan area. As such, Harrisburg’s historic renaissance and future are intertwined with education- primary, secondary and higher education.

In addition to the continually improving public education system within the City, which includes the innovative and dynamic Science and Technology High School, Harrisburg is home to numerous nationally prominent institutions of secondary and higher education, most notably the new Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, and the highly-acclaimed Harrisburg Area Community College, now branded as HACC: Central Pennsylvania’s Community College.
