City Island Clean Up Complete, Parking Available Monday Morning
Dr. Brenda Alton, Director of City Parks, Recreation & Enrichment, announced this afternoon that the clean up on City Island is now complete and the Island will be open as per normal operations tomorrow, Monday, May 2, 2011.

CITY WATER MAIN DAMAGE REPAIR COMPLETED
City Mayor Linda D. Thompson announced this morning that all repair on the damaged water main on HARSCO property at Cameron Street has been completed as of approximately 4:45 AM today.

CLEAN UP ON CITY ISLAND IS UNDERWAY, WATER PEAKED EARLY
An early river crest and a crisp bright day gave City Fire, Parks, Recreation & Enrichment and Public Works crews a jump on post-flood clean up on City Island today.

Current River Level Approaching 18 feet, Crest Predictions Trending Lower
Susquehanna River level is nearing 18 feet in Harrisburg, with predictions trending lower and earlier. Crest in the City is now expected to be around 19 feet at 7PM today and to recede to 17 feet by Sunday.

CITY CLEAN UP WELL UNDERWAY, CITY ISLAND CLOSED, RIVER EXPECTED TO CREST EARLIER
The weather broke with sunshine early this afternoon, bringing some relief after a stressful morning in the City. Water quickly receded from most City streets and flooded areas, and traffic is now circulating more normally around the City.

Storm damage updates and closures
City Island parking will close between 5:00 – 6:00 PM today, April 28, and will remain closed through the weekend. A further parking update will be issued sometime Sunday, May 1, 2011. All weekend events on the Island are now canceled.

City Situation Update: EOC is Operational
The City was exposed to high rains and winds causing spot flooding, electrical shortages and tree damage around the City throughout the early morning hours. Traffic conditions are improving but restricted by some street closings, stalled cars, and rush hour conditions. Expect up to an hour delay.

Harrisburg School District is closing Downey School due to flooding.
Harrisburg School District is closing Downey School due to flooding. Students who were bused to Downey this morning are being transported to Lincoln School. Parents may pick up their children at Lincoln School.
