Harrisburg, the capital City of Pennsylvania, is accepting applications for the position of Project Director in the Department of Building and Housing Development. This position reports to the Director of DBHD and the Deputy Director for Housing. The Project Director organizes, directs and controls the development, rehabilitation, construction and sale of housing and other development projects for the City of Harrisburg. The Project Director plans, directs, and controls the range of activities necessary to complete development projects using funds provided or controlled in whole or in part by the City or its affiliated agencies. The Project Director specializes in one or more of the following areas: structural rehabilitation construction, property acquisition and disposition, construction contract review, construction bonding, project reporting and compliances with City building codes and HUD/State lead program requirements. This is a management, FLSA-exempt position.

Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in architecture, design, engineering or related field. Five years or more experience and training in a broad range of federally assisted housing, new construction or other development programs. Considerable experience in working with or for the private sector in the areas of construction financing or development, or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Supervisory experience preferred. Must possess a valid PA driver’s license, class C, or equivalent,

The salary range is $50,000.00 to $54,500.00 annually depending on qualifications, plus excellent fringe benefits. The successful candidate must establish residency within the corporate limits of the City of Harrisburg within one year from date of hire.
