Harrisburg, the Capital City of Pennsylvania, is accepting applications for the position of Director of Parks, Recreation, and Enrichment. This is a senior, cabinet-level position that serves as Director of Parks, Recreation, and Enrichment. Responsible for the planning, organization, general administration, development and direction of a professional park program for all groups, ages, and interest levels within the City; developing and maintaining an adequate park and playground system; and maintenance of necessary physical facilities. The Director oversees all Special Events, parks’ maintenance, and development activities. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Mayor and Chief of Staff. This is a management, FLSA-exempt position.

Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Parks Management, Outdoor Recreation, or closely related field and at least five years of professional experience in parks and recreation management, development and planning or municipal recreation, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the functions of the position. A Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, class C, or equivalent.

The salary range is $73,000 to $78,000, depending on qualifications, plus excellent fringe benefits. The successful candidate must establish residency within the corporate limits of the City of Harrisburg within one year from date of hire.
