Harrisburg, the capital City of Pennsylvania, is accepting applications for the position of Deputy Director/Contract Compliance Officer in the Mayor’s Office of Equal Economic Opportunity. This management position reports to the Director of the Department of Building and Housing Development and is responsible for the operation of the Mayor’s Office of Equal Economic Opportunity (in the absence of the Director) and the establishment and execution of policy to increase procurement opportunities for minority and women-owned businesses. Furthers the development and promotion of economic development and assists in establishing policy to promote as well as develop small business opportunities with special emphasis on minority and women-owned businesses. Represents the Mayor and/or Director on various Boards, Commissions, Authorities and community organizations in a leadership role or as a staff support.
The contract compliance function requires the implementation and evaluation of the Affirmative Action programs (Article 181) as mandated by City Code. This is a management, FLSA-exempt position.
Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college of university in business or public administration or urban planner or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities of this position. At least five (5) years of progressively responsible economic development experience in the public sector (or in the private sector doing similar work) and knowledge of procurement practices and procedures, affirmative action and equal employment opportunity programs. Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License, Class C or equivalent. Supervisory experience, preferred.
The salary range is $60,000.00 to $63,000.00 annually depending on qualifications, plus excellent fringe benefits. The successful candidate must establish residency within the corporate limits of the City of Harrisburg within one year from date of hire.
