SUPPORTING MINORITIES AND WOMEN IN BUSINESS

Sava-A-Lot Ribbon CuttingThe Division of Contract Compliance and Minority and Female Business Enterprises within the MOEDSP is responsible for the aggressive promotion of minority and women-owned businesses. Procurement outreach consists of matching procurement opportunities with available Minority Business Enterprises/ Women Business Enterprises (MBE’s/WBE’s). This division provides support in the following areas: business start-up and management counseling and seminars; obtaining financing through various public and private institutions; and, meeting business insurance needs.

Certification services are also provided to ensure the businesses are bona fide MBE/WBE firms. The City is one of three municipalities in Pennsylvania to provide Minority/ Women- owned business certification. The goal of this particular service is to ensure that all MBE/ WBE firms are bona fide entities. This process helps the firm when bidding on government work and contracts with M/WBE participation goals.

MOEDSP also maintains a pro-business commitment to all businesses, whether they are owned by disabled veterans, small or large in nature, City-based or M/WBEs.
