The role of the Mayors Office of Economic Development and Special Projects is to assist individuals and businesses in successfully navigating through the processes of starting, relocating or expanding a business within the City of Harrisburg. Along with MOEDSPs numerous partners, both within and outside of municipal government, the staff always looks forward to engaging and assisting clients with their business needs.
Today, despite decreased resources and significant budgetary constraints, the MOEDSP continues to serve as a one-stop resource center to: provide services in support of and information about economic development and available business sites; low-interest loans for minorities, women, disabled veterans and all City-based businesses; tax abatement programs, if applicable; and, special projects and all inter-related services.
Regarding the one-stop resource center function, MOEDSP frequently acts as a catalyst and on some projects, a collaborator, with local and regional economic development resources, including, but not limited to Dauphin County, Capital Region Economic Development Corporation and numerous departments and bureaus within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. MOEDSP also maintains an excellent working relationship with Pennsylvanias Congressional Delegation and the Pennsylvania General Assembly, especially local legislators.
